Inmarsat-4 F3 satellite launchSatellite Beach, FL - Satcom Direct, a leading innovator of satellite voice, fax, and Internet data service solutions, can now deliver complete Internet global communications solutions due to the successful launch of the Inmarsat-4 F3 satellite at 22:43 UTC (23.43 London time) on August 18, 2008, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan (04:43 local time, August 19).

The Inmarsat-4 F3 satellite completes Inmarsat’s next-generation global satellite network, providing broadband Internet services to users around the world. Inmarsat aero solutions are the standard for all business and military aviation, and its network is utilized worldwide for providing seamless voice, Internet, and ICAO flight deck safety services.

Before the launch of the I-4 F3 satellite, there were two Inmarsat-4 (I-4) satellites delivering mobile broadband services to 85 percent of the world’s landmass and 98 percent of the world’s population. The successful launch of the third I-4 completes the global coverage for Inmarsat’s broadband Internet services, and this extended coverage allows Satcom Direct to deliver its service solutions to every area of the globe, including aircraft in flight.

“Satcom Direct is committed to developing new technology for mobile clients and being the aero satcom industry leader,” said Jim Jensen, founder and owner of Satcom Direct. “Satellite communication technology and aviation is our passion, and we will continue to develop technology which supports the mission of each Satcom Direct customer, which includes working with industry leaders such as Inmarsat to deliver the best services possible.”

Satcom Direct’s Inmarsat services provide the communications solutions to support both pilots and VIPs simultaneously from the flight deck to the cabin utilizing Inmarsat’s Swift64 and SwiftBroadband networks. These services are also compatible with STU-III, STE, SCIP, and KIV-7 and offer simultaneous operation with Classic Aero voice. Using Satcom Direct’s Aero X® acceleration technology can increase Swift64 and SwiftBroadband bandwidth by 100-percent to 400-percent, approximately four-times full duplex (both directions).

According to Inmarsat’s website the I-4 series of satellites are the most advanced commercial mobile communications spacecraft of their kind. The I-4s were first placed in orbit in 2005 and set a new benchmark for mobile satellite communications in terms of their power, capacity, and flexibility. Once tested and operational, the I-4 F3 will be provide satellite phone and mobile broadband services to North and South America at 98 degrees west.
